Morning breakfast is essential for a healthier lifestyle. A healthy and quality habit of having breakfast is found to be capable of helping the success in stepping down body mass.
A research indicates breakfast with a high portion of carbohydrate becomes an important element for a person’s successful program in reducing body mass.
As it is reported by BBC, Thursday (19/6), the monitoring result toward the women suffering from obesity notes that those who eat up a half of daily portion calorie at breakfast time achieve more satisfying result than those who get less calorie at breakfast time.
A researcher of Commonwealth University, America, Dr Daniela Jakubowicz, in a recent conference in San Francisco, reveals that breakfast with low portion of calorie is believed to be going to provoke hunger.
Dr Jakubowicz himself has recommended satisfied breakfast with high carbohydrate to his patients for fifteen years. He then compares it with the low-carbohydrate breakfast on ninety-six obesity-suffering women who are less active in doing activities.
Women with low-carbohydrate breakfast are given a daily total portion of calorie up to 1.085 calories—mainly originated from protein and fat. Breakfast for this group is a meal with the lowest daily content of calorie, namely only 290 calories with 7 grams of carbohydrate.
Meanwhile women with high calorie-containing breakfast are given a daily total of calorie up to 1,340 –with a low portion of fat but high carbohydrate and protein. On this group, breakfast holds 610 calories with 58 grams of carbohydrate., lunch holds 395 calories and dinner 235 calories.
Within four months on, women with low carbohydrate breakfast seem much better. Their body mass fall averagely up to twenty-eight pounds in comparison with those having high carbohydrate breakfast that lose only twenty-three pounds. However after eight months, the situation becomes a contradiction in which the average body mass of the low carbohydrate group gains eighteen pounds, on the other hand, that of the high carbohydrate group loses 16,5 pounds. In average, the high carbohydrate group loses one-fifth of their total body mass, whereas the low carbohydrate group loses less than five percent.
Domination of fiber and fruit
Dr Jakubowicz reports that women that have high carbohydrate breakfast confess not to feel hungry especially in the morning. By having high carbohydrate breakfast, one will feel not hungry in the whole day and body is much heavier now that the menu is dominated by fiber and fruit.
“Many researches on body mass reduction has stipulated that very low carbohydrate is not an appropriate method to reduce body mass. This only will worsen feelings of hunger and slow down metabolism. As a result, not long after diet program obesity recurs”, reveals he.
On the reverse, Dr Alex Johnstone of Rowett Research Institute in Aberdeen, judges a high carbohydrate diet only as a model that does not make dieters faster bored. He says even though there are other researches showing that a low carbohydrate diet is the best method to reduce body mass in short time, however this model is not easy to implement as a lifestyle.
According to him, ability to regain body mass decrease on dieters can signal the monotony of the two diet models rather than the dieters’ ability to curb their feelings of hunger. “It is not difficult someone to go on a high carbohydrate diet and implement it longer”, he added further.
